Felts Field’s origins date back to the beginning of the 20th century, when it was one of the earliest airports established in the emerging era of aviation. As one of the most popular airfields in the region, it was regularly used for commercial and recreational flying and played a significant, lasting role in shaping aviation as we know it today – serving as the terminus for the renowned 1927 National Air Race, the birthplace of aerial refueling, and more.
Today, Felts Field is primarily used for general aviation. Situated along the idyllic Spokane River, the airport features two paved runways, a turf landing strip, and the unique ability to accommodate water landings on the river adjacent to the airport. Felts also boasts a 35,000-square-foot Aero Centers FBO facility and several Art Deco-era motifs visitors can spot upon arrival.
What you’ll find at Felts Field
Felts Field is home to a community of tenants and operators offering fuel, aircraft maintenance, flight training, charter services, air medical transport, and more. The airport features hangars, tie-downs, and a full-service FBO to support based and transient aircraft.
Visitors and locals have long enjoyed Skyway Cafe, a popular restaurant housed in the airport’s historic terminal building. The cafe is temporarily closed for renovation.
