Terminal Renovation & Expansion (TREX)
The largest capital project in our airport’s history, TREX is transforming the passenger experience from curb to gate. The program includes expanded concourses, modernized concession spaces, and a focus on accessibility and sustainable design.

Current Projects
Parking Lot Consolidation
Estimated completion: Fall 2027
The Airport has nearly 10,000 parking stalls, located across multiple lots. Over the next year, this area will be reconfigured so guests can more seamlessly and intuitively navigate the Airport’s multiple parking products.
Taxiway Alpha Reconstruction
Estimated completion: Fall 2026
The goal: strengthen the structural integrity of the pavement used for heavy aircraft usage by replacing 2,000 lineal feet of asphalt with a more durable concrete surface. Other components of the project include upgrading incandescent airfield taxi edge and centerline lights with new LED lights and installing new LED airfield directional and guidance signage that helps pilots to navigate on the ground.
Runway Intersection Rehabilitation
Beginning September 2026
The Airport will remain open and operational while crews work to rehabilitate the pavement within the intersection of GEG’s two runways: Runway 8/26 and Runway 3/21.
Sustainability
Sustainability is woven into how we build. From locally sourced terrazzo floors to thoughtfully selected furniture, our projects are designed to reduce environmental impact while creating spaces that reflect the character of the Inland Northwest.

Planning for the future
Our Master Plan is a 20 to 50-year roadmap for the airport’s growth, required by the FAA. It outlines our development strategy, facility needs, and land use plans. The Airport Layout Plan (ALP) is its companion document, showing detailed drawings of existing and planned facilities.
